About In Memoriam
In Memoriam Annotated Antiques is the brain-child of Kait and Izzy, a history-obsessed couple who have been collecting antiques for years.

Who we are
Kait
Historian and archaeologist
She created the public history project A History of Our Own, a site described as "A Love Letter to the Footnotes of History." The research work is focused on the everyday humans whose names never made it into most museums and textbooks.
Kait is a collector of rare books & paper ephemera, and is known for crying during research ("learning and appreciating someone's story a hundred years after their death is emotional, okay?!").
Izzy
Registered nurse, story collector
Izzy has spent most of her career in death care. She calls herself a story collector, and loves to stumble across a stranger and listen to their life story.
She is also a photographer and the loving collector of various discarded fabric arts. Izzy has an eye for beautiful things and often takes it upon herself to find discarded items and fix them to working condition once more.
The two of us
We have a habit of picking up a relatively common antique item and thinking more about who may have held it, their lives, dreams, and hardships.
We want to share our passion for antiques, while also reconnecting the human stories attached. When we cannot connect items to a specific individual, we still add context of what the item was used for, hopefully providing someone with a new piece of history knowledge.
We follow a strict code of ethics as an antique store, and there are objects we will never sell, for reasons we have set out at length.
